HTML DIY
Pages that contain one Custom HTML Element
Introduction
I have created several web sites using Google Sites where I just use Sites to create the navigation aspects and provide the web space. This section is to investigate if I can use Weebly in a similar way.
Why?
When using a service such as Sites or Weebly there is always the risk that at worse they may withdraw service or more likely change the way things operate, either by function or by cost. So the need may arise to look for another approach. If your work has been built with standard HTML and CSS (and Javascript if I ever get around to understanding this) then it will be much easier to port elsewhere.
Notes
Methodology
I find it best to develop page on a bespoke html editor. I use HTML Taco on Mac which I have enhanced by using the text expander Dash.
Limitations
Editing
<div style="width: 100%; height: 1px; margin: 0 0 -1px; clear: both;"> <!--re-establish web items to the left--> </div>
I have found that sometimes the html page will not display completely when in Weebly editing site but works fine once published. It appears to be related to the use of <div> statement especially when float style is used.
One workaround that is sometimes successful to overcome this is to include the html code shown her, which I use to reset page back to the left margin after overlapping div statements.
Examples
I developed this page on my Mac using HTML Taco.
